Tuesday was beautiful with sunshine and although there was still a chill in the air, we set off on our afternoon walk, without needing to wear our jackets. Peter took advantage of the warmth and in the morning planted out the broad bean plants I brought on in the greenhouse, before hardening them off for a few days outside.
However, it was all change yesterday. While it was reported, other parts of the country were basking in warmth, we had heavy cloud cover and it was cold. So, in the afternoon we were back wearing jackets and gloves. More cloud cover again this morning but finally this afternoon, it has cleared and the sun is back. I am keeping my fingers crossed the weather forecast for tomorrow and the weekend are correct and warmth and sun will enable us to have a BBQ.
I don’t market my books (see Janet’s Books on this website) in the way large publishing companies do. I enjoyed the writing and publishing experience and in particular, being able to donate all profits from book sales to charities. I don’t actively seek reviews (some do) so I was delighted to read on Amazon, this recent five-star rating and review for Truths and Lies. ‘As a grecophile I really enjoyed this memoir type of short stories focussed on the characters of a Greek island and their tourist visitors. A good mix of emotions, misgivings and happy instances. The individual stories were all wrapped up nicely at the end. Lots of vivid description and portrayal of island life for those blessed and not so blessed to have lived there. I would also recommend the author’s other book - On the Verge.’ I always try to remember to write book reviews. They are not always easy to compose but if I’ve enjoyed a read then it’s a good way of letting the author know. I am reticent to give a bad review, after all what one person doesn’t enjoy another may embrace the story within the pages of the book.
Today’s photo is one of the last of our daffodils flowering in the borders. Most of them have now dried back but we do have a couple of pots of late flowering daffodils which are only just starting to form buds. Next time, I will tell you about the Russians in the village!
