Friday 25th October 2024 - Lighter Mornings and Church Gates
The clocks change over this coming Saturday and Sunday night which means, in theory, we get an extra hour in bed. I have been waking at six in the morning and then dozing until there is sufficient light to go out on our morning walk and litter pick but with that extra hour of light, first thing, we will be back to getting up a six again. This won’t last for many weeks though; darker mornings will soon be back.
As usual, it's been a relatively quiet week for us. We visited a friend in Cromer, midweek, taking the opportunity to stock up on greeting cards for forthcoming birthdays. Yesterday I went to the coffee morning in the Pavilion where I picked up some useful tips on making a door wreath. Looking to the week ahead and weather permitting, on Tuesday, the Yarn Art Group who have been busy making poppies will be decorating the gates of the church. I am grateful to Tim Bennett and the Church Council for permitting this and in the words of one, ‘It will be so lovely to have something bright and welcoming after all that has gone on in the past three weeks!’ (For those who are not aware, recently, there was an incident at the church after which cleaners were employed. During this period the church has been closed.)
We have taken advantage of the warm weather to be out in the garden where I have cut down perennials that have finished flowering, planted winter bedding which I grew from seed and we’ve both been clearing leaves. I still have more tidying and cutting back to do over the coming weeks and no doubt more leaves to clear too!
Today, instead of one or two photos, I have added a gallery with some of the photos I took when we visited Natural Surroundings last Saturday.
