Janet's Chosen Charities & Organisations
After deciding to have my books published the question arose, ‘What shall I do with the profits from sales?’ The decision was easy really – donate it to a charity or good cause. The next question was, ‘Which or Who?’ Now this took a bit more contemplation and consideration, after all there are so many deserving charities or organisations, all of which are grateful of donations.
When my first book, a short story set in Greece and titled, Timotheus Pserimos Puss, was published in October 2015, I split the profits, 50/50 between Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation. I chose these two charities because my family has a predisposition to cancers and similarly, Peter’s family to heart problems.
In October 2019, (by which time, both On The Verge and The 3R’s – Recipes, Reflections & Reminiscences had been published) when my fourth book, Truth and Lies was available to purchase, I decided to change and support the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society. This followed the shock diagnosis of our daughter-in-law with the disease.
Another four years on and in October 2023, after seeing the excellent work done by Takis Shelter Non Profit Organisation, in Crete, saving stray and abandoned animals, nurturing them back to health as well as finding caring homes for them, I decided to support them, and donate the profits from sales of my books to this organisation.
