About Janet
Born on the borders of Berkshire with Buckinghamshire, Janet has spent most of her life living and working in these two counties. Before having a family, Janet worked for a firm of Accountants, followed by the position of Management Accountant for an American company. With a specific interest in taxation and employment law, when Janet returned to work, she developed these skills and undertook the role of Payroll and Human Resources Manager.
Through their holidays in Greece, Janet & her husband, Peter, developed a passion for the country and its islands; spending up to five weeks a year appreciating walks through the unspoilt countryside and villages, as well as embracing the relaxed Greek lifestyle. A desire to follow the Greek way of life, whilst still living in England, resulted in a move away from the south to a small coastal village, Overstrand, on the coast of Norfolk. They now enjoy the peaceful lifestyle they sought.
Reflecting their interest in Greece, between 2002 and 2006, Janet wrote articles, recipes and book reviews for the Greek publication, Greek-o-File. Since moving to Norfolk in 2008, Janet published her short story titled, Timotheus Pserimos Puss and ‘The 3R’s – Recipes, Reflections and Reminiscences’. This was followed by a novel titled, On The Verge, and Truths and Lies, a collection of short and not so short stories.
In July 2010, Janet started recording day to day life in Norfolk, through blogs on her website, ‘Overstrand Life' www.overstrandlife.online. Over the years, the site has developed into a comprehensive source of information about the village. In addition to writing blogs, Janet has started to collate recollections of her life, into a readable format, along with those handed down to her by earlier generations.
